Job Summary
As part of a small, high-impact team supporting the Supply Chain organization, you will help build and maintain the foundational data models that serve as the single source of truth for Supply Chain at Blue Origin. Sitting immediately downstream of ET source systems (ERP, procurement, inventory, logistics, and supplier systems), our team owns the core bronze-to-gold data modeling layer in Databricks that every downstream supply chain report, dashboard, and application is built on. This role focuses on the full lifecycle of upstream data modeling — ingesting raw ET data, applying business logic and data quality rules, and producing clean, trusted, well-governed data models — while also contributing to the AWS-hosted web applications and self-serve analytics tools that make this data accessible across the business.
- Supply Chain Data Modeling: Design, build, and maintain the core supply chain data models in Databricks — built on top of ET-provided data — that serve as the most widely used data assets across the Supply Chain organization.
- Business Logic & Data Quality: Apply supply chain-specific business logic, transformations, and data quality rules to produce accurate, trusted, and reusable data models for downstream consumption.
- Self-Serve Enablement: Build and maintain data products and semantic layers that allow supply chain analysts and business users to self-serve metrics and insights without deep technical support.
- Web Application Support: Contribute to AWS-hosted internal web applications that surface these supply chain data models as dashboards, KPIs, and operational tools.
- Collaboration & Standards: Partner with ET data platform teams and supply chain stakeholders to define data contracts, onboard new data needs, participate in code reviews, and establish data modeling standards for the team.
- Modern Engineering Practices: Develop using GitLab for version control and CI/CD, VS Code as the primary development environment, and leverage AI-assisted tooling to increase modeling and pipeline development velocity.
- Observability: Monitor pipeline and model health, ensuring high availability, performance, and discoverability of the team's supply chain data models.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines and data models
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience with Databricks or similar lakehouse platforms for dimensional/data modeling and transformation
- Experience integrating with upstream source systems (ERP, transactional databases, or similar) and managing schema/data contract changes
- Experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, Lambda, Glue, RDS, ECS)
- Familiarity with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
- Strong understanding of data warehousing/modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, medallion architecture, slowly changing dimensions, etc.)
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), due to access to export-controlled data
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience modeling data from ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor) or other enterprise transactional (ET) source systems
- Experience with AI-assisted coding tools integrated into data modeling/engineering workflows
- Exposure to supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing data domains
- Experience building internal web applications or APIs on top of governed data models
- Familiarity with data cataloging, lineage tracking, and governance tooling
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $141,162.00 - $197,626.80
