Engineer I/II - Build Strategy Team
About this role
General Dynamics Electric Boat is hiring a Engineer I/II - Build Strategy Team, full-time, on-site in Groton, CT, in the Electric Marine sector.
Overview
There’s never been a better opportunity to join the shipbuilding industry. As the demand for cutting-edge naval technology grows, General Dynamics Electric Boat is at the forefront – designing, building and maintaining the most advanced and sophisticated submarines in the world. Our work is mission-critical, supporting the U.S. Navy and strengthening national security.
The COLUMBIA Class Build Strategy Team (BST) is seeking highly motivated candidates to join the effort in integrating the COLUMBIA Class design for construction.
The Quonset Point BST Deckplate Team is an opportunity for entry-level engineers to join a growing and fast paced organization which will interface directly with submarine construction and operations. Engineers on BST will work directly with operations on a day-to-day basis to complete and implement construction readiness reviews and support real-time problem solving. This team will play a vital role in connecting BST Serial Production and downstream operations, carrying out optimal build strategies and driving continuous improvement across all production processes. This effort presents a unique opportunity to implement meaningful changes to the COLUMBIA build sequence in support of both the Enterprise and the Navy’s needs.
The QP BST Deckplate engineer’s primary role will both require and nurture technical skills and the ability to network and work cross-functionally across multiple disciplines and departments. QP BST Deckplate will integrate already established build strategies across a multitude of business systems and departments including Detail Planning, Advanced Planning, Production Control and Operations, amongst others. The engineer will work closely with their BST supervisor who is responsible for coordinating efforts within a particular area of the ship.
