Entry Level Engineer – Embedded Software / Systems

Overview

Portable Ship Control System (PSCS), part of department 442, is an engineering team that designs and supports communications and navigation aids. In collaboration with vendors, the team performs a complete product development cycle, starting with concept development, then requirements definition, design, prototyping, qualification testing, software development, delivery, and post-delivery support.

Knowledge of systems engineering, software programming, electrical/electronic circuits, hardware/software integration, networking, and cybersecurity are desirable. It is not expected that a single candidate will have knowledge of all of these disciplines. Work will be conducted in Groton / New London, CT facilities, with part-time work from home available based on needs of the department.

Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of products is also desirable.

The ability to work in a team environment is required. The job may also include limited US and overseas travel.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering by December 2026.

0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

Experience in submarine electronics system development, integration, installation and test

Experience with the Microsoft suite of products

Exposure to hardware and software development tools

Skills

Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills

Experience working successfully both in a team environment and independently
