CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:[Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.] Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

OverviewGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a self-directed Facilities Project Manager to deliver the infrastructure that enables high-consequence national security work. This is not a coordinator-only role. You will own facility projects from early concept through design, procurement, construction, turnover, and closeout, balancing mission needs, safety, cost, schedule, and operational continuity.

The right candidate is a practical, mature project leader who can walk into an ambiguous problem, build the plan, align stakeholders, manage outside partners, surface risks early, and drive work to completion without daily direction. You will support plant, office, production, real estate, environmental, and infrastructure projects, typically up to $1M or across several concurrent efforts of similar complexity.

What You Will Do

Lead facilities projects end to end: scope development, planning, design, estimating, bidding, execution, commissioning, and closeout.

Translate operational and production needs into clear project requirements, design criteria, performance specifications, and executable work packages.

Coordinate internal customers, leadership, engineering, EHS, security, contractors, architects, consultants, and suppliers to keep projects moving.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk registers, status reporting, and decision packages; communicate issues early with recommended paths forward.

Manage external A/E firms and contractors, inspect work in progress, and verify conformance to drawings, specifications, safety requirements, quality expectations, and schedule commitments.

Prepare bid sheets, evaluate proposals, verify cost estimates, and manage project costs across labor, equipment, materials, installation, and preparation.

Use AutoCAD to develop or revise facility, plant, office, and production-equipment layouts while maintaining compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Lead multiple simultaneous projects with sound judgment, disciplined prioritization, and minimal oversight.

Identify process improvements, including practical AI-enabled opportunities that improve project visibility, planning, documentation, or execution.

What Success Looks Like

Projects are delivered safely, predictably, and with few surprises.

Stakeholders know the plan, decisions are made at the right time, and risks are escalated before they become schedule or cost problems.

Contractors are held accountable, internal customers feel supported, and facilities changes work in the real operating environment.

You bring ownership: when something needs to be figured out, you investigate, propose the path, and drive it through completion.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, plus 5+ years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated experience leading facilities, construction, infrastructure, engineering, real estate, environmental, or capital projects.

Working knowledge of building codes, safety requirements, construction practices, budgeting, estimating, contractor coordination, and project controls.

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications; competent AutoCAD capability.

Strong judgment, communication, organization, and follow-through in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.

Ability to independently manage competing priorities and bring structure to incomplete or evolving requirements.
