About this role

Joby Aviation is hiring a UAE CAMO Post Holder, full-time, on-site in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in the eVTOL sector.

Company Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Joby is seeking an experienced continuing airworthiness professional to serve as the UAE Continuing Airworthiness Manager and nominated post holder for the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) approved as part of Joby’s Air Operator Certificate under GCAA CAR-M Subpart G and Supplement S-1.CAMO. Reporting to the Accountable Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supervising all continuing airworthiness activities for the Joby S4 fleet in the UAE, ensuring that no aircraft flies unless it is airworthy and maintained in accordance with its approved maintenance program.

The post holder determines what maintenance is required and when; the CAR 145 Approved Maintenance Organization determines how it is performed. The role is deliberately independent of the maintenance organization: it owns the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME), the aircraft maintenance program, airworthiness directive and service bulletin control, defect and MEL management, and continuing airworthiness records, and it provides oversight of the maintenance the AMO performs.

The post holder is Joby’s primary continuing airworthiness interface with the GCAA and with Joby’s type certificate holder engineering teams in the United States. The ideal candidate combines rigorous regulatory discipline with the judgment needed to bring a new aircraft type into service safely.

Responsibilities

Act as the GCAA-nominated post holder responsible for the management and supervision of continuing airworthiness under CAR-M Subpart G and S-1.CAMO, ensuring each S4 aircraft operated under the AOC remains airworthy and is released to fly only when all continuing airworthiness conditions are met.

Own the CAME and its supporting procedures, including drafting, submission, revision control and continued alignment with the AOC and the terms of approval.

Develop the S4 Aircraft Maintenance Program, obtain and maintain its GCAA approval, and drive its effectiveness through a reliability program and data-led amendments.

Manage the assessment, applicability, embodiment decisions, and compliance tracking of airworthiness directives, service bulletins, modifications, and repairs, ensuring all changes rest on approved data.

Plan and order maintenance from the CAR 145 AMO, conduct audits and ongoing oversight on all continuing airworthiness tasks.

Control defects, deferred items, repetitive defects and MEL rectification intervals, and own the aircraft technical log system.

Maintain continuing airworthiness records, including life-limited and time-controlled components, propulsion and battery system tracking, configuration status, and mass and balance.

Establish the organisation’s airworthiness review capability under CAR-M Subpart I, including the authorization of airworthiness review staff and the issue or recommendation of airworthiness review certificates.

Serve as the operator’s continuing airworthiness link to the type certificate holder, managing instructions for continued airworthiness, service information, occurrence data exchange and support to GCAA type validation.

Support the compliance monitoring and safety management functions of the management system, meet occurrence reporting obligations to the GCAA and type certificate holder, and uphold Joby’s just culture commitments.

Support Flight Operations and the Operations Control Centre in fleet scheduling and notification of fleet availability and planning.

Recruit, develop and lead the CAMO team across technical services, maintenance planning and records, and control staff competence including human factors and safety management training.

Act as the primary continuing airworthiness contact for the GCAA, report fleet airworthiness status and risk to the Accountable Manager, and support other projects as assigned.

Required

Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline or equivalent, or an aircraft maintenance license (GCAA CAR 66, EASA Part-66 or FAA A&P) supplemented by relevant further education.

Minimum of five years of continuing airworthiness experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role within a CAMO, Part-CAMO, or equivalent experience supporting a commercial operations organization.

Ability to meet the knowledge, background, and experience criteria for a GCAA-nominated CAMO post holder and to be accepted by the GCAA following documentation review and interview, including working knowledge of CAR-M, S-1.CAMO, CAR 145, CAR 66 and the related air operations requirements; knowledge of EASA and/or FAA continuing airworthiness regulations preferred.

Practical experience developing and amending a CAME and a maintenance program, and running airworthiness directives, defects, MEL, and records control systems.

Sound understanding of safety management, compliance monitoring, and human factors principles.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization credibly to the regulator, the type certificate holder and senior leadership.

Eligibility to live and work in the UAE, a valid passport with no travel restrictions, and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time.

Desired

Previous acceptance by the GCAA or another civil aviation authority as a CAMO nominated post holder or continuing airworthiness manager.

Experience taking a CAMO through initial approval alongside a new Air Operator Certificate.

Experience as authorized airworthiness review staff.

Experience introducing a new aircraft type into service, particularly novel, electric or eVTOL aircraft, including close work with a type certificate holder on maintenance program and reliability development.

Familiarity with electronic continuing airworthiness and maintenance information systems.

Arabic language skills.
