Survey Analyst

Kimley-Horn is hiring a Survey Analyst, full-time, on-site in San Diego, CA, in the INFRASTRUCTURE sector.
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Survey Analyst with 6+ years of professional surveying experience to support a variety of land development, transportation, utility, and infrastructure projects. This individual will work closely with licensed surveyors, engineers, and field crews to perform survey research, data analysis, calculations, drafting, and project coordination. The ideal candidate is technically strong, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects while producing accurate, high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities
Prepare and process survey deliverables including:
ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
Boundary Surveys
Topographic Survey
Record of Survey exhibits
Easement and legal description exhibits
Construction staking calculations
Perform deed, title, and public records research to support boundary determinations and survey projects.
Analyze survey data collected from GPS, total stations, laser scanners, and other field equipment.
Prepare survey plats, maps, sketches, exhibits, and reports using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
Assist with boundary analysis, closure calculations, control network adjustments, and survey computations.
Coordinate with field crews to support project execution and ensure accurate data collection.
Review field notes, survey data, and calculations for completeness and accuracy.
Communicate with project managers, engineers, utility companies, contractors, and clients as needed.
Support project scheduling, budgeting, and task management activities.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior analysts, technicians, and interns.
Maintain quality control standards while meeting project schedules and deliverable requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Geography, or related field preferred
Minimum 4 years of surveying experience in land development, transportation, utility, or infrastructure projects.
Experience preparing ALTA, boundary, topographic, and construction-related surveys.
Proficiency with:
AutoCAD Civil 3D
Microsoft Office Suite
Survey data processing software
Strong understanding of:
Boundary principles
Survey mathematics and calculations
Legal descriptions
Title research
Land records research
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
LSIT certification (or actively pursuing).
Experience with Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
Knowledge of local surveying regulations and standards.
Experience supporting utility, renewable energy, transportation, or land development projects.
Drone/UAS and laser scanning experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to occasionally visit project sites and construction locations.
Ability to traverse uneven terrain and outdoor work environments when supporting field operations.
Ability to lift and carry survey equipment up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
Driving Requirements
This position may require the operation of a motor vehicle and travel to project sites, client meetings, and company offices as needed.
A valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record are required.
Employees must be able to safely operate a vehicle in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Salary Range:$105,000 to $125,000
