Satellite Operations Platform Manager
About this role
Muon Space is hiring a Satellite Operations Platform Manager, full-time, remote, in the Aerospace sector.
About the role
As a Satellite Operations Platform Manager, you will be the bridge between our spacecraft in orbit, our Satellite Operations team, and the broader engineering and business teams. You’ll take responsibility for turning customer contracts into operational reality by ensuring satellites are successfully commissioned, transitioned to nominal operations, and scaled to meet a rapidly growing constellation.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering execution and operational strategy: you’ll coordinate across subsystems (Flight Software, Ground Software, Thermal, Electrical, Systems, GNC, Business Development) to ensure that satellites meet contractual obligations, while also helping the Satellite Operations team prepare for rapid growth in fleet size.
This position can be performed remotely from an approved location.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross functional teams supporting commissioning activities and anomaly reviews and provide regular progress updates to management
- Monitor operational performance against contractual requirements and coordinate cross team support to address any performance shortfalls
- Ensure Satellite Operation’s systems and processes are scalable and support anticipated fleet expansion and contractual requirements
- Provide periodic updates to management on commissioning progress and operational performance against contractual commitments
- Support customer meetings to provide updates on anomaly investigations and track issues to closure
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in satellite operations or a related high-reliability system environment (e.g., aerospace, defense)
- Working knowledge of satellite subsystem and supporting ground system functionality
- Experience solving complex problems that span multiple systems
- Experience with creating operational processes to address both technical and customer needs
- An engineering background in an engineering field such as Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and create structure/process where none exists
Nice-to-have Skills
- Demonstrated experience with satellite command and control systems, telemetry analysis, and mission planning
- Direct experience with on-orbit satellite commissioning or mission operations
- Understanding of ITAR/EAR regulations
Salary
The salary range for this role is $131,000 - $190,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
