About this role

Relativity Space is hiring a Facilities Technician II, First Shift, full-time, on-site in Long Beach, California, United States, in the Aerospace sector.

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team
The Facilities team keeps every operation across the site running, supporting everything from power and utilities to highly specialized equipment like industrial 3D printers. Our 1 million square foot headquarters is one structure that functions as 20 mini factories under one roof. That complexity creates real opportunities to grow through cross-training and ownership of specialized systems. As the facility expands, this team is brought in early to plan and build the physical assets that will support scaled operations.

About the Role
This is a 1st shift position with a standard schedule of 5:00am-3:30pm PT, Monday through Friday. Overtime, weekends, and non-standard shifts may be required based on operational needs.

  • Complete facility work requests in JIRA, including repairs, maintenance, and service requests, and keep requesters updated on status through completion.
  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, drywall, painting, patching, doors, ceilings, fixtures, and flooring, which involves working from ladders and lifts and squatting, kneeling, or stooping with a tool belt.
  • Fabricate, modify, and install brackets, guards, platforms, racks, carts, workstations, and equipment mounts from drawings, sketches, and field measurements using cutting, drilling, grinding, welding, and bending processes, then inspect finished work for fit, function, and safe installation.
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, contractors, and vendors on preventive maintenance, equipment moves, installations, and facility projects, including lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds and operating forklifts and lifts once certified.
  • Inspect the facility for unsafe conditions, leaks, damage, or equipment issues, report findings, and support emergency response and facility shutdowns, including periodic outdoor work in heat, cold, wind, and rain.
  • Maintain organized, clean factory floors, shops, storage areas, and fabrication workspaces, with tools and materials ready for use, while following all safety, environmental, security, and aerospace manufacturing requirements.

About You

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, building repair, construction, or fabrication
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, reach lifts, or man lifts, and willingness to complete in-house forklift certification
  • Ability to share examples of prior repair or fabrication work, such as before and after photos
  • Valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Nice to Haves, but Not Required

  • Welding experience (MIG, TIG, or stick)
