A sneak peek of something bold in high-speed rail
A sneak peek of something bold in high-speed rail. Great to see Virgin unveil the distinctive livery of its future Avelia Stream fleet for planned cross-Channel services from 2030.
Alstom is proud to support Virgin’s ambition, bringing decades of high-speed rail expertise to this exciting project. The 12 Avelia Stream trains will be built by our teams in Savigliano, Italy, and maintained by us in the UK.
We look forward to continuing our work together as this exciting international rail project develops.
Why this matters for talent
A livery reveal for Virgin's future high speed rail fleet is a marketing moment, but it also confirms the program is moving toward a real 2030 launch target. Alstom lists 118 openings on the jobs board, and programs at this stage usually need manufacturing, systems engineering, and testing staff well ahead of entry into service. Rail engineers with high speed rolling stock experience should watch this program's hiring ramp.
