Open Fan technology reaches new test milestone in Europe.✈️

GE Aerospace Aerospace Update November 4, 2026

Our engineers from Poland have completed the first testing campaign of a high-speed, low-pressure turbine (LPT) for the CFM RISE program.

The LPT is a key component that drives the Open Fan, a new engine design that removes the traditional casing to allow a larger fan with less drag, improving fuel efficiency and durability. The data will help mature the Open Fan architecture ahead of flight tests this decade. Swipe to see the test campaign and the team behind it 👉

Why this matters for talent

Testing a low-pressure turbine in Poland for the CFM RISE program is real engineering progress, with flight tests still ahead this decade. Open fan work means sustained demand for turbine, test and aerodynamics engineers over a long program. GE Aerospace has more than 400 open roles on the board. Propulsion engineers who want a long program with visible milestones should keep an eye on this.
