2 spacecraft in orbit and 8 more coming soon: Varda has big plans for in-space manufacturing
Varda Space Industries is planning seven missions in 2027 as it builds toward regular orbital manufacturing and reentry services.
CEO Will Bruey spoke with Space.com about what that expansion requires: managing multiple spacecraft at once and designing vehicles that can fly on different rockets.
For pharmaceutical and industrial customers, the value lies in processing materials in microgravity and bringing them back for use on Earth. Varda’s move toward fleet operations is a step toward making that capability a repeatable commercial service.

Why this matters for talent
Planning seven missions in 2027 while managing multiple spacecraft on different rockets at once is a real operational scale-up for Varda, not just a funding milestone. Fleet operations at that cadence typically requires mission control, integration, and launch operations hiring well ahead of the first 2027 flight. Varda Space carries over 110 open roles on the jobs board.
