Our Space Medicine team is taking an integrated, systems-level approach to crew health and performance, from vehicle design and quality
sleep to medical kit inventory, training, and behavioral health.
It’s all part of preparing for our first crewed missions: Vast-PAM-1, NASA’s sixth awarded private astronaut mission to the International Space Station, and the first crewed mission to Haven-1, targeted to be the world’s first commercial space station.

Why this matters for talent
Space medicine is a small field, but a dedicated team preparing for crewed missions tells you Vast is staffing for human spaceflight specifically. Crewed work needs human factors, life support and medical operations expertise that uncrewed programs do not. Vast has more than 150 open roles on the board. People from aviation medicine or human systems backgrounds should see this as a real career path.
