Designing for the last mile means designing for the neighborhood
🪽 Take a look inside our Nest operation at Walmart in Houston to see the intentional engineering behind Wing aircraft.
Safety-first redundancy is built directly into our design. With multiple independent motors, the aircraft can easily handle a motor issue, safely complete its delivery and return home.
By combining the hovering precision of a helicopter with the speed and efficiency of an airplane, we get the best of both worlds to deliver essentials quickly and gently.
We also designed our propeller blades with slightly different lengths to change the sound frequency. Instead of a harsh buzz, they create a soft, quick hum that blends naturally into neighborhood backgrounds.

Why this matters for talent
Wing is walking through its aircraft engineering at a Walmart site in Houston, so the operating partnership is the news to keep an eye on. Nests at retail locations need local operations people as well as engineers, and that kind of role is easy to overlook. Wing has more than 50 open roles on the board. Aviation and operations people should look at how these sites are staffed.
