Senior Finance Manager, Maritime
About this role
Anduril Industries is hiring a Senior Finance Manager, Maritime, full-time, on-site in Costa Mesa, California, United States, in the Aerospace sector.
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE JOB
Anduril is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join the Maritime finance team. Reporting to the Head of Maritime Finance, this role owns division-level FP&A consolidation, one reconciled, audit-ready view of Maritime's financials across business lines, products, and programs, and leads the high-value strategic initiatives that fall outside recurring business-line finance responsibilities as Maritime continues to rapidly scale, recommending and executing the strategies that drive both top- and bottom-line impact.
You will own the division’s consolidated financial picture, create dedicated ownership for high-impact initiatives that extend beyond recurring FP&A and business-line finance work, and present findings and recommendations directly to senior leadership. The work runs cross-functionally across Division Operations, Production Finance, Production, Supply and Demand Planning, Program Management, Inventory Management, Data, Product, and Engineering. The role is weighted approximately 60% consolidated FP&A, close, and division reporting and 40% strategic initiatives: the consolidation is the non-negotiable, and the strategic work follows a clean close.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Daily partnership with Business Line Leaders within Maritime to bring first class financial expertise and decision support to the business.
- Own consolidated division FP&A end to end: set and enforce the close and forecast calendar, standardize business-line and program submissions and challenge them against materiality and variance thresholds before consolidation, reconcile the consolidated P&L and backlog to the general ledger, and publish division, business line, product and program reporting from a single source of truth. Unresolved gaps escalate to the Head of Finance before the division number is published.
- Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with forecasts, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances.
- Partner with corporate FP&A and controllership to align the division's consolidation with corporate reporting requirements, calendars, and accounting policy, and serve as Maritime's single point of accountability for the numbers that roll up to corporate.
- Lead executive-level reporting: own the division's performance dashboards, alerting, and KPI investigation, and present the resulting insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Serve as a force multiplier to the Head of Finance and business-line finance leaders, providing leadership where division-level priorities require coordination across multiple businesses or functions, guiding junior analysts on consolidation and IRAD work without formal management responsibility, and implementing best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible finance organization.
- Develop deep relationships with our customers (both internal and external) and oversee customer program reporting and monthly financial status reporting, partnering with billing on invoicing accuracy.
- Own financial analysis and decision support for emerging Maritime priorities, including new product development, business formation, investment decisions, and international expansion, and lead the high-value projects where ownership crosses functional boundaries or recurring issues point to a structural problem. Build the frameworks and models that turn ambiguous opportunities into decisions, diagnose root causes across finance, systems, manufacturing, supply chain, and program operations, implement the fixes, and establish ownership that outlasts the project.
- Provide guidance and financial oversight to a junior analyst who manages IRAD day to day, reviewing the roadmap that carries IRAD concepts from ideation through contract award and confirming financial viability at each stage.
- Stand up program management office standardization: a common link and guide from proposal to award, kick off, active program management, execution reporting, and contract close-out.
- Improve the systems, processes, data, and operating mechanisms supporting the division, including self-serve reporting that lets General Managers test delivery and schedule scenarios, and comprehensive program dashboards that give Program Managers system-based program financials. Focus on eliminating recurring work and failure modes rather than permanently adding resources to service them.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant professional certification (CPA, CFA) is a plus.
- 5-10 years of finance experience in Defense, Large Manufacturing, or Government contracting, including at least 3 years owning a multi-business-line or multi-entity consolidation and close cycle.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling and data analysis tools, and experience with financial reporting tools and ERP and consolidation systems (i.e. Oracle Fusion, Oracle EPM, Oracle ERP, Foundry).
- Working fluency in program revenue recognition and estimates at completion in a government contracting environment (percentage-of-completion, CAS/DCAA), including how program-level judgments roll into a division consolidation.
- Demonstrated track record of owning problems end-to-end in a finance function.
- Experience consolidating FP&A across multiple business lines, products, or programs, and building the models and reporting that hold the consolidation together.
- Intellectually curious: you seek to understand the why behind the numbers.
- Highly technical: you value precision and accuracy when it comes to your work, and you can rapidly dissect complex quantitative problems.
- Critical thinker: you consider problems from all angles to remove bias.
- Results-oriented: you will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills. You drive consensus through grounded arguments, interpersonal skills, and negotiation skills.
- Creative problem-solver: able to identify obstacles and present viable solutions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
- Excited by large breadth of problems.
- Confidence to execute in highly visible and accountable positions.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
