About this role

Anduril Industries is hiring a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, full-time, on-site in Irvine, California, United States, in the Aerospace sector.

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer on the Sentry products team, you will work inside and outside the organization to define, develop, and execute processes that deliver high quality and reliable products for Anduril's Sentry autonomous surveillance systems and the critical components that make successful sourcing solutions. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, quality, and performance of components and sub-assemblies across Sentry's core commodity families — PCBA, structures and power, radar, and imaging — that enable Sentry to operate in demanding field environments. Everything comes down to clarity and action with our suppliers, and partnering with them for world-class results is essential across the supply chain. The right person for this role has knowledge of manufacturing across multiple commodity types, supply management, supplier development, sub-system performance criteria and metrology, and continuous improvement. If you are someone who loves to build world-class quality processes, work hands-on, and be accountable for results, then this role is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Drive the supplier quality development processes throughout the product development stages with the Sentry product engineering team through design reviews, supplier process development, testing, and qualification for components and sub-assemblies across Sentry's commodity families: PCBA, structures and power, radar, and imaging. Review supplier processes and capabilities to ensure alignment to product, part, and sub-assembly requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise for manufacturing and outsourcing processes across commodities — including printed circuit board assemblies, structural and power systems, radar modules, and imaging sensor assemblies. Drive the gathering of data and insights from suppliers to conduct top-tier evaluations of manufacturability, quality, cost-efficiency, capability, and audit compliance.
  • Partner with development engineering (mechanical, electrical, RF, and optical/systems), product quality engineering, and program management to deliver predictable supply to Sentry development programs and production programs, and manage exceptions, containments, and deviations for supplier technical performance.
  • Drive supplier quality readiness by analyzing key and critical characteristics for drawings, schematics, and supplier specifications, develop measurement systems and inspection criteria, and lead supplier qualification activities (PPAP, FAIR, MSA, Audit, inspection development, PFMEA & AS9102, etc.).
  • Partner with Category Management and Sourcing Engineering to drive overall supplier performance for cost, quality, delivery, and fulfillment of strategic goals across all four commodity families.
  • Own the elimination of supplier risk to improve quality and reliability across the Sentry product lifecycle, from early prototyping through scaled production. Utilize audits, readiness reviews, and training and documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Work cross-functionally to define and execute the technology/vendor capability roadmap and delivery schedules needed for future Sentry variants, proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and explorations.
  • Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities. Review supplier effectiveness of actions and share lessons learned across the Sentry product team. Drive supplier corrective action and response (SCAR) process.
  • Audit the Quality Management System at our suppliers as it pertains to supplier quality and performance. Define and improve required documentation and activities as needed to ensure Anduril's compliance to flow-down requirements from customers.
  • Prepare, support, and lead supplier onsite audits and reviews for contract deliverables for quality management and compliance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred)
  • Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality in aerospace/defense or similar hardware across one or more of the following commodities: PCBA, structures and power, radar, or imaging
  • Experience driving high quality assembly and/or disassembly of complex projects and mechanical or electronic structures through developing drawings, schematics, and work instructions with other engineering functions
  • Experience with driving supplier performance and evaluation. Experience with Statement of Work (SOW), quality clauses, intellectual property (IP), and government regulations such as ITAR, etc.
  • Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements such as Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) quality improvement techniques, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • A strong ownership mindset with demonstrated capability to drive projects from start to completion
  • Analytical skills and experience with data mining, data quality, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools (MatLab, JMP, MiniTab, etc.)
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in a technical field
  • 5–7 years of experience with developing quality systems for low volume, high complexity manufacturing environments and suppliers
  • Experience across multiple Sentry commodity families (PCBA, structures and power, radar, imaging)
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) and AS9100/ISO 9001-based Quality Management System requirements
  • Experience with government contracts and MIL standard requirements
  • Experience with Teamcenter, SolidWorks, Oracle/Netsuite, Jira, Tableau, and Foundry
