ABOUT THE JOB
Anduril is seeking a talented growth-minded Systems Engineer to join our Strategic Defense team in Washington, DC; or Huntsville, AL. In this role, you will be responsible for defining the Architecture & Capabilities for next generation integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) systems, with emphasis on Army air and missile defense architectures and the System of Systems sensor integration, track fusion, and discrimination that underpin them. You will be ensuring requirements and architecture traceability through test and evaluations critical to the fire-control certification processes and translating operational needs from the Army and joint IAMD community into executable system architecture. If you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and has a passion for contributing to national security, then this role is for you!
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Interface with stakeholders including internal programs and external customers across the Army and joint IAMD community.
- Actively participate in the concept generation, and coordination across stakeholders in developing future architecture and capabilities bringing together novel kill chains supporting strategic defense.
- Develop artifacts based on stakeholder needs and work closely with functional areas to ensure artifacts are complete and accurate. Model Artifacts will often be contractual deliverables and require demonstration at stakeholder meetings and events.
- This role will be critical proving that Anduril offers real Systems Engineering and Mission Systems Integration capabilities.
- Lead and develop requirements and architecture products that provide full traceability, and configuration is controlled and managed across related Fire-Control programs.
- Own architecture and interface definition for integrating Anduril fire-control capabilities across the IAMD kill chain — sensors, battle management and C2, fire control, and effectors.
- Define and manage System of Systems mission threads and interfaces across multi-sensor architectures — track initiation and correlation, track fusion across dissimilar sensors, and target classification, identification, and discrimination through engagement.
- Integrate Army and joint sensor networks — radar, EO/IR, and passive RF — into fire-control-quality track pictures, including external cueing sources such as space-based missile warning.
- Develop a deep understanding of transformational value of Anduril platforms, autonomy, simulation, and perception products through the creation and maintenance of systems engineering artifacts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently possesses and can maintain an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, applied physics, computer science or similar engineering or technical field, or over 10 years of integrated air and missile defense experience.
- 12+ years Systems Engineering Experience across the life cycle. The more, the better.
- Demonstrated domain experience across the IAMD kill chain — sensors, battle management and C2, fire control, and effectors — with Army air and missile defense systems such as IBCS, Patriot/PAC-3 MSE, LTAMDS, Sentinel A4, THAAD, IFPC, M-SHORAD, C-RAM, or AN/TPY-2, and their integration with joint C2 such as C2BMC and Aegis.
- Demonstrated System of Systems tracking and discrimination experience — multi-sensor integration, track initiation and correlation, track and data fusion across dissimilar sensors, and target classification, identification, and discrimination.
- Understanding of how sensor performance drives fire-control-quality track formation and engagement decisions — track accuracy and covariance, correlation and decorrelation, combat ID, IFF, and NCTI.
- Working knowledge of how external cueing sources, including space-based missile warning and tracking, feed terrestrial sensor and fire-control chains.
- Understanding of Fire-Control systems and required safety, and hazard mitigation practices.
- Experience developing various model based system engineering artifacts - Operational Viewpoints, System Viewpoints, activity diagrams, use case diagrams, BDDs, IBDs, parametric diagrams, etc...
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with modeling of weapon systems, sensor and tracker performance, IAMD engagement sequences, and air and missile threat scenarios (EADSIM, AFSIM, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience leading System of Systems capability development of complex kill chains.
- Experience with test planning, execution, and data analysis for complex systems.
- Experience supporting Army and joint IAMD organizations such as Army SMDC, RCCTO, PEO Missiles and Space, the Air and Missile Defense Cross-Functional Team, MDA, or JIAMDO; experience with space mission organizations (Space Systems Command, SSDP, SDA) a plus.
- Familiarity with joint data links and interoperability standards used across Army and joint IAMD (Link 16, JREAP, IBCS IFCN, VMF, FAAD C2 interfaces, OMS/UCI).
- Experience with joint engagement coordination and composite tracking across Army and joint fire-control networks, including engagement-quality track handoff and cross-sensor correlation.
- Experience with discrimination and classification algorithm performance in ballistic and air-breathing threat environments, including debris and object classification, kinematic and feature-aided discrimination, and non-cooperative target identification.
- Proficiency with Mathworks products (MATLAB, SIMULINK etc.).
