As part of a hardworking team of EHS professionals, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert for construction and contractor EHS compliance across Blue Origin's Florida operations. In this role, you will ensure that all construction activities, contractor operations, and capital project execution meet or exceed applicable federal, state, and local EHS requirements — operating independently, engaging directly with contractors and project teams, and driving a culture of safety across a complex, multi-contractor environment.

What You Will Be Doing

As the EHS Senior Engineer for Construction and Contractor Compliance, you will lead EHS oversight for active construction projects and contractor operations across the site. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Serving as the primary EHS point of contact for all construction and contractor activities across Blue Origin's Florida operations

• Conducting pre-construction EHS reviews, contractor onboarding, and site-specific safety plan evaluations

• Performing regular construction site inspections and contractor audits to ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards and applicable Blue Origin EHS requirements

• Investigating construction-related incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; leading root cause analysis and corrective action development

• Reviewing and approving contractor Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and site-specific safety plans

• Partnering with Project Management, Facilities, and Capital Projects teams to integrate EHS requirements into project planning and execution

• Tracking and reporting contractor EHS performance metrics including incident rates, inspection findings, and corrective action closure

• Developing and delivering EHS training to contractors and Blue Origin personnel on construction safety topics

• Ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and applicable Florida state safety regulations

• Supporting permitting, regulatory agency interactions, and compliance reporting related to construction activities

• Maintaining current knowledge of regulatory changes and updating internal programs and procedures accordingly

• Supporting enterprise EHS initiatives and cross-functional projects as needed

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related technical discipline

• Minimum 5 years of EHS experience with demonstrated focus on construction safety and contractor management

• Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards and 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards

• Experience conducting construction site inspections, contractor audits, and incident investigations

• Experience reviewing and approving JHAs, AHAs, and contractor safety plans

• Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate regulatory requirements across all organizational levels

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with contractors, project managers, and senior leadership

• Must be self-driven and capable of planning and executing work with limited direct supervision

• Ability to work in an active construction environment including outdoor and industrial settings

Desired Skills:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related technical discipline

• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred

• Experience supporting large-scale capital construction projects in aerospace, defense, industrial, or manufacturing environments

• Familiarity with OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and Process Safety Management requirements

• Knowledge of NFPA 70E, hot work, confined space, fall protection, and excavation/trenching standards

• Experience with contractor prequalification programs and contractor EHS management systems

• Knowledge of Florida OSHA and FDEP requirements applicable to construction activities

• Experience with EHS management systems such as ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001

• Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements applicable to construction activities including stormwater (NPDES/SWPPP), spill prevention (SPCC), and hazardous waste management

• Experience using EHS software platforms for inspection tracking, corrective action management, and reporting

• Knowledge of construction planning, estimating, procedures, and execution

• Experience managing or providing technical oversight of EHS subcontractors or consultants
