At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As a Software Development Engineer III on the New Glenn Data Engineering, Software, and Automation (DESA) team, you will play a pivotal part in realizing this vision. In your role as a Front-End Developer, you will create and enhance the tools used to manage foundational engineering data across multiple spaceflight systems. Collaborating closely with specialists, you will build solutions that empower the teams designing, operating, and maintaining New Glenn vehicles. By transforming complex data into actionable insights, your work will enable informed decision-making.

Success in this role requires a high degree of autonomy and proactive alignment with team objectives. You should be adept at clear communication, sharing your perspectives, and engaging in modern collaborative software development practices. This includes clean code, thorough documentation, and version control. You will be expected to take ownership of requirements, refining them as needed and delivering impactful results using modern Data, Cloud, and Web technologies.

- Collaborate directly with DESA Technical Product Managers and Customers to develop requirements for front-end user interfaces, while also providing input to backend database design

- Incrementally deliver functional UIs coordinated with team priorities

- Contribute to the overall UI strategy for the suite of DESA tools

- Develop in an agile team including building consensus on designs and participating in code reviews

- Integrate with in-house and off-the-shelf systems using APIs, custom service layers, work queues, and monitoring solutions

- Think outside the box. Challenge why things are done a certain way and figure out ways to build solutions better

- 5+ years of Enterprise-level development experience

- Experience with Material UI

- Experience with React and ES6

- Experience with unit testing

- Experience with git

- Ability to quickly absorb information in an unfamiliar domain and translate it into software

- A self-driven nature with the ability to seek out requirements and propose solutions with minimal direction
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
