Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability and lifetime of our iron-air packs and deployed systems. This role reports into our Systems Reliability team, in Berkeley CA. As part of our Systems Reliability team, you will lead reliability test development and design for reliability for several of our pack level subsystems. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you'll do:

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the primary authority on Design for Reliability (DfR) for critical electro-mechanical plant subsystems that support our battery plant, mentoring peers and guiding cross-functional design failure analyses (DFMEAs)

  • Translate high-level product goals into rigorous reliability requirements. You will define the roadmap for how we validate component and sub-system lifetimes.

  • Design and lead complex experiments to uncover failure mechanisms, determine root causes, and establish methods to accelerate failure rates in tests. Tests will focus on industrial control panels for outdoor power electronics, and their associated subcomponents.

  • Be a champion for safety

What you'll bring:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering or related field with 3-7 years of industry experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing new tests to evaluate performance and/ or reliability of electrical and electromechanical systems

  • Experience with outdoor power electronics or industrial control panels (including their actuators, fans, and fluid systems). Specific experience with evaluation of systems against UL 508A is a plus.

  • Familiar with developing accelerated lifetime tests to assess component reliability across a range of operating conditions

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills within a group of peers and the broader organization, including remote team members
