About this role

Loft Orbital is hiring a IT and Infrastructure Lead, full-time, on-site in Abu Dhabi, in the Aerospace sector.

About the role

Orbitworks is looking for an IT and Infrastructure Lead to own the systems, networks and technology that support our satellite manufacturing operations.

You will keep our infrastructure reliable, secure and recoverable while providing hands-on IT support across our offices, labs and cleanroom. Your scope will include backup and disaster recovery, connectivity, endpoint management and the technical delivery of business continuity.

This is an individual contributor role with ownership of the IT function and support from external technology and security partners. It suits someone who enjoys working independently, solving practical problems and balancing daily support with longer-term infrastructure improvements.

What you’ll do

    • Own IT infrastructure and connectivity: Maintain and troubleshoot networks, firewalls, VPNs and virtualized environments. Manage resilient connectivity across our sites, including multiple internet connections and WAN failover.

    • Manage backup and disaster recovery: Own backups across virtual machines, Google Workspace, Dropbox and onsite storage. Verify daily completion, resolve failures and maintain offsite and immutable backup copies.

    • Test recovery and continuity: Run monthly restore drills, isolated cyber recovery testing and quarterly continuity exercises. Document results, address gaps and keep recovery procedures current.

    • Maintain emergency site readiness: Ensure the alternative operating site has the connectivity, backup access and infrastructure needed to support business continuity. Coordinate IT power resilience with Facilities.

    • Strengthen security: Work with external security partners to address assessment findings, harden infrastructure and improve access controls, MFA and endpoint security.

    • Deliver daily IT support: Resolve hardware, software, permissions and collaboration tool issues. Configure and manage Mac and Windows laptops, mobile devices and MDM.

    • Support employees and technical teams: Coordinate onboarding and offboarding with the People team, maintain meeting room AV systems and support devices used in labs, manufacturing and the cleanroom.

    • Manage vendors, documentation and reporting: Coordinate external support, maintain runbooks and offline emergency instructions, support audits and provide clear infrastructure and continuity updates to leadership.

    • Support growth: Deliver infrastructure improvements and help set up new office and lab environments as Orbitworks scales.

What you’ll bring

    • At least 6 years of IT experience, including 2 years owning infrastructure as the primary or sole administrator.

    • Hands-on experience with backup, disaster recovery and restore testing.

    • Strong corporate networking skills, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls and multi-WAN failover.

    • Practical experience administering Google Workspace.

    • Experience with single sign-on, mobile device management and access controls across Mac and Windows environments.

    • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to prioritize and resolve issues independently.

    • Clear written communication, with the ability to produce useful technical documentation and explain risks, progress and recovery readiness to business leaders.

Nice to have

    • Experience with Cisco Meraki and Synology, including high-availability storage and Active Backup.

    • Exposure to business continuity programmes or ISO 22301.

    • Experience supporting manufacturing, laboratory or cleanroom environments.

    • Linux desktop and virtualization experience.

    • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

Why join Orbitworks?

You’ll own a critical function in a growing satellite manufacturing business, working closely with engineering, industrial operations and business teams. Your work will directly support reliable operations and strengthen our ability to recover from disruption.

As Orbitworks grows, there is an opportunity to develop toward broader IT and security leadership and help build the future IT team.

Orbitworks' mission is to make space simple for organizations that want to deploy physical and virtual missions to space. Building on Loft Orbital's heritage, Orbitworks will be the first commercial firm in the United Arab Emirates to mass-manufacture satellites. Orbitworks aims to manufacture tens of satellites annually and operates out of a 50,000-square-foot facility in Abu Dhabi.
