Senior Assembler

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY, is seeking an experienced Senior Assembler to join the Manufacturing and Production team.

Responsibilities:

- Work from wire diagrams, engineering drawings (blueprints), sketches, and written or oral instructions to create initial layouts and accurately assemble products.
- Use hand and power tools as required to complete assemblies.
- Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble production or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications.
- Apply advanced electrical and mechanical assembly concepts to resolve complex issues and support company objectives.
- Understand and apply electrostatic discharge (ESD) principles and safeguarding requirements.
- Properly use hand tools, including torque wrenches, wire cutters, wire strippers, and crimpers.
- Independently identify and resolve issues related to assigned tasks.
- Operate equipment including fork trucks, automotive lifts, ladders, lifting platforms, and cranes.
- May require limited travel, up to 10% annually.

Compensation Range: $23.51 - $28.17 per hour

Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years of relevant assembly or manufacturing experience.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions and assembly drawings.
- Ability to work with materials ranging from small, intricate components to larger, heavier parts.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working on manufacturing flow lines with multiple team members.
- Background in automotive mechanics or a related field.
- Ability to operate automated equipment and understand mechanical assembly and process flow.
- Advanced support skills and extensive knowledge of tools, software, and related technologies.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs to elevated tower platforms.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors as required.
