Closing the Ground-Truth Gap in Physical AI | PlusAI
Language models can learn from the open internet. Where does Physical AI get its ground truth?
Unlike digital AI, autonomous machines need data grounded in real-world behavior, 3D environments, and complex decision-making. That kind of data is much harder to produce at scale.
In his blog, PlusAI’s Dr. Joe Yuan explores why this ground-truth gap matters and how Data Factory, part of our HyperFoundry™ Physical AI development platform, turns real-world driving into machine-generated ground truth, from 3D scene labels and reasoning traces to reconstructed environments.

Why this matters for talent
PlusAI's blog post on its Data Factory platform addresses a real technical gap: autonomous trucks need grounded, real-world driving data in a way that large language models trained on internet text do not. This is useful context for engineers considering a move from general AI into physical AI, since the skill set and data problems are genuinely different.
