The Redwood Energy Ecosystem

Redwood Materials Battery & Charging Update October 14, 2026

The gap between when power is needed and when the grid can provide it has become one of the defining constraints of this moment. So, companies need a partner who can supply power quickly, along with the materials and equipment that go into it.

At Redwood, we're building our way through that gap. We pair our own battery systems with solar and other generation sources to stand up power projects end to end, on a timeline that is faster than the grid can deliver. That's the foundation for the intelligent microgrids we're building next, sized for the demand coming from AI data centers, hyperscalers, and heavy industry.

Our work with Rivian is one example of how to solve for this moment.

Why this matters for talent

Redwood Materials framing itself as an energy supplier for AI data centers, not just a battery recycler, is a real business line expansion, not just messaging. That kind of pivot usually brings new demand for power electronics and grid interconnection engineers alongside the existing battery and materials roles. Redwood Materials has 121 open roles on the board, and this is the kind of move that tends to add headcount rather than redirect it.
