What do drivers expect from their next vehicle? More of the convenience they already get from their smartphones

Verra Mobility Mobility Infrastructure Update November 4, 2026

Verra Mobility’s 2026 Smart Mobility Survey found: ▪️ 72% expect their next vehicle to function like a smartphone, with apps and services built in. ▪️ 51% say connected features could influence their choice of make, model or higher trim.

For vehicle manufacturers, these expectations create an opportunity to make everyday driving easier through useful, integrated services, from finding parking to paying tolls.

Why this matters for talent

The survey is the company's own, so read the percentages as a sales argument. The direction is still useful: connected services in vehicles need people who can work between automakers, payment systems and tolling or parking operators. Verra Mobility has more than 60 open roles on the board. Product managers with that kind of partner experience should take note.
